The Museum of Engineering and Technology ensures the accessibility of the website of the Museum of Engineering and Technology and the Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiments in accordance with the Act of 4 April 2019 on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities. The website complies with the Act on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities.
Date of preparing the declaration and method of assessing digital accessibility
The website has undergone a WCAG audit. The tests carried out have shown that the Museum’s website was created in accordance with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines. The contrast conditions are met. There are no difficulties for visually impaired people in accessing content, and the website can be used in difficult lighting conditions.
The website meets the accessibility guidelines and is also available to users at risk of digital exclusion. The audit of 15.10.2021 was conducted by the certified auditor Jakub Kulasa.
The website is partially compliant with the Act on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities due to the incompatibilities or exclusions listed below:
- Some of the published photos and objects do not have an alternative description, are promotional in nature, and are not used to carry out current activities.
- There may be places where the contrast of elements is insufficient.
- When navigating the website, the focus is sometimes not visible.

Information on the procedure
Everyone has the right to request the digital accessibility of a website or any of its elements. You can also request that such information be made available using an alternative method of access, for example, by reading a digitally inaccessible document, or describing the content of a film without an audio description, etc. The request should include:
- details of the person making the request,

1. Museum seat – Depot
Our seat is located in Kazimierz at Św. Wawrzyńca 15 in Krakow (31-060)
As of 30 March 2023, the following are open to visitors:
- building D (entrance/exit zone, permanent exhibition, conference room, shop, cloakroom, workshop room, toilets)
- building E (permanent exhibition, toilets)
- building F (presentation room of the collection of historic trams)
- building H (permanent exhibition with LAB Zone)
- building L (permanent exhibition – level -1)
- building G (educational room),
- building J (porter’s lodge),
- building B (administrative building).
Access
Public transport
When travelling by tram lines 6, 8, 10, and 13, it is best to get off at the “Plac Wolnica” stop and then head towards Św. Wawrzyńca Street. The Museum is located 500 metres from Plac Wolnica.
When travelling by tram lines 3, 19, and 24, get off at the “Św. Wawrzyńca” stop, turn into the street of the same name and go straight towards Plac Wolnica. The Museum of Engineering and Technology is located approximately halfway along Św. Wawrzyńca Street. The Museum is located 400 metres from the Św. Wawrzyńca stop.
Taxi
If you are travelling by taxi, you can stop and get off at Św. Wawrzyńca 15, opposite the main entrance to the Museum.
Bicycle
There are two bicycle racks between buildings J and E.
Car
You can enter the Museum from Św. Wawrzyńca and Gazowa streets. You can park your car on the streets near the Museum. We remind you that this is a paid parking zone. You can pay for your parking using an application or a payment card in the parking meter.

Parking availability
The Museum does not have a designated parking zone. There are two free parking spaces for people with disabilities on Św. Wawrzyńca Street. Additionally, there is one parking space for people with disabilities directly in front of the main gate. When it is occupied, disabled people with an ID card are authorized to leave their vehicle in the Museum courtyard. The Museum’s car park is not publicly accessible. Before entering, please contact the building security service by phone (515411 590) to open the barrier located on the Gazowa Street side. If necessary, please contact the Accessibility Coordinator (phone/SMS: 515411 413, or by email: dostepnosc@mit.krakow.pl).
Entrance accessibility
Entrance to the complex is unrestricted through the gate from Św. Wawrzyńca Street. The second entrance to the complex is from Gazowa Street.
The gates leading to the Museum are open from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm. Depending on the season, the gate closing time may change.
Permanent exhibition accessibility
All buildings of the Museum of Engineering and Technology have passageways. The Museum is equipped with a fire protection system with door lock release in the event of fire. Museum employees are trained in evacuation procedures. In the event of a threat, the evacuation of people with limited mobility is carried out via stairs or the nearest emergency exit with the help of third parties.
Entrance accessibility
If you visit the “City. Technosensitivity” exhibition on your own, it will take about 90 minutes. The duration of the visit always depends on individual needs.
The ticket office is closed from 2:10 pm to 2:30 pm. During this time you will not be able to buy a ticket or receive an audio guide or other aids. If you rent an audio guide, you can enter the exhibition at 4:15 pm at the latest. You can enter the exhibition area without an audio guide at 5:00 pm at the latest. The Museum closes at 6:00 pm.
“City. Technosensitivity” exhibition buildings
Museum entrance
The entrance to the Museum of Engineering and Technology for the “City. Technosensitivity” permanent exhibition is located in building D. The double glazed doors have a large white letter D on them. The doors open automatically to the sides.
Building D – level 0
Entrance/exit zone, cloakroom, shop, toilets, workshop room.
Building D has 3 levels. In building D in the Entrance Zone (level 0) the passageways are wide. Access between floors is provided by a lift and stairs.
There are employees in the exhibition halls who can help guests. You can enter the building and all of its rooms with an assistance dog.
Entrance/exit zone
Next to the glass entrance there is a typhlographic plan of the space and layout of the rooms.
Ticket office
You can buy tickets at the ticket office. The ticket office is equipped with an induction loop system. Here you can borrow free of charge: an audio guide, soundproof headphones and sheets for magnifying descriptions. Next to the ticket office there is a stand with leaflets and maps with exhibition plans. Next to the glass entrance there is a typhlographic plan of the space.
We do not provide video interpretation into sign language. It is possible to borrow a wheelchair for the duration of the visit. In addition, you can borrow a handy typhlographic plan for the duration of your visit to the Museum from the employees and the Exhibition Service. We also have walking cane seats at our disposal. In the exhibition area there are: typhlographic plans, contrasting marking of the stair edges, a 3D model of the Depot (space F), and two platforms.
Cloakroom
The Museum has a cloakroom, which you can reach from the entrance zone by going up the stairs or by a ramp. Your outerwear, e.g., jacket or fleece, must be left in the cloakroom. Backpacks, large bags, food and water must also be left in the cloakroom. You can leave your belongings in a special locker with a key. The cloakroom is free of charge..
Toilet
There are toilets in the Entrance Zone. To reach the toilet for people with special needs, with a changing table, go through the door to the women’s toilet. This toilet is equipped with an emergency alarm. If necessary, ask a Museum employee to indicate a second toilet for people on a different level.
Shop
There is a shop in the Entrance Zone. You can buy souvenirs, books and toys here.
Building D – level +1 – Conference room
There is a conference room on the first floor (level D+1). It is accessed by a two-flight staircase with a landing. You can reach level D-1 by lift. There are several armchairs and coffee tables in the foyer. You enter the conference room through a door. The interior of the room is bright, one of the walls is made of glass, and the floor of the room is carpeted. The conference room is located above the cloakroom, which may cause discomfort to people sensitive to sounds.
Building D – level -1
You can reach level D-1 by stairs or lift. There is an evacuation chair next to the stairs. Here, behind the glass with a yellow sticker is the entrance to the exhibition. Under the wall with the “City. Technosensitivity” inscription there is a free-standing typhlographic plan of the Entrance Zone on level D-1.
In the Entrance Zone on level D-1, there are toilets (for women, men, and people with special needs). The toilet for people with special needs is equipped with an emergency alarm and a changing table. If necessary, ask a Museum employee to indicate a second toilet on a different level.
The Block Zone is also located on this level. This is a space for children aged from 12 months to 12 years. This space is open to organized groups and individual customers at designated times. Information about the Block Zone can be found on the Museum website: www.mit.krakow.pl
To start visiting the exhibition, scan your ticket and go through the gate. The gate will open when the ticket is correctly scanned. Do not approach too closely to the reader, because the alarm will sound. If you have problems with the ticket reader, ask the Staff for help.
You can start the tour from level D-1 and go to building E. The passageway leading to building E is narrow. To reach the entrance to the staircase in building E, you have to go through a narrow corridor containing the remains of a former ash container.
Building E
Building E has two levels. People with mobility difficulties can use the platform to go to level O. The platform is for two people and has a motion sensor. To go to the upper level, please stand in the designated places. The platform has a door but does not open automatically. In building E, the passageways are narrow. Moving between floors is possible for disabled people through a platform. There is no toilet for people with disabilities in the building. There are employees in the exhibition hall who can help guests. At the beginning of the tour, you can go through a narrow door to a connecting area, which allows you to see a collection of historic trams. You can exit building E through a large wooden door located at the end of the exhibition space.
Building F
The entrance to the building is from building E through a glass connecting area. The building is single-storey. A small threshold between the exhibition spaces may present an obstacle. We go through the glass connecting area. In building F, the passageways are narrow due to the collection of historic trams located here. Be careful of tracks and spaces that may prevent people using wheelchairs or walking sticks from passing. The area is paved. It is possible to enter two carriages. People with difficulties and children should enter the accessible carriages in the presence of an assistant. Exit from the building is through the same door as the entrance.
Building H
The entrance to building H (Lab Zone) is from building E. We go through a glass connecting area. In building H, the passageways are narrow. Movement between floors is provided for people with disabilities by a platform. There is no toilet for people with disabilities in the building. Building H has two levels. There are employees in the exhibition hall who can help guests. After completing 4 experiments, you can go down the stairs to level -1 or go down a two-person platform with a motion sensor. The platform has a door but does not open automatically.
Building L
In building L, we start the tour from 3 modules of the Lab Zone – on the counter there is a model of an electrostatic machine. People with a pacemaker are asked to use the device carefully. Then we start to tour the exhibition. The passageways are narrow. There is no toilet for people with disabilities in the building. Building L has one level. There are employees in the exhibition hall who can help guests. After passing through this part of the exhibition, we move on to the next space located in building D, remaining on level -1.
Level D-1 (Building D)
Level D-1 is the exhibition hall that we reach after passing through the next exhibition spaces. There are employees in the exhibition halls who can help guests. After passing through this part of the exhibition, visitors can use the stairs leading to level D-0, or, if necessary, exit through the doors located on this level. People with mobility problems can go through the gates, use the lift and go to level D-0. If necessary, ask the staff for help in reaching the nearest toilet. The staff and employees will indicate the route to return to the exhibition area.
Level D-0 (Building D – Exit Zone)
This level is the end of the exhibition. After familiarizing yourself with this part of the exhibition, you can exit through the gate and return to the Entrance Zone. You will then find yourself next to the ticket office.
Workshop room
This level also contains a workshop room, which you can reach with a Museum employee by going through the cloakrooms. Museum lessons and weekend lessons are held in this room.
Building J – porter’s lodge
The entrance to the building is from building E. A porter is present on the Museum premises 24 hours a day.
Building G – education room
The entrance to the building is from Gazowa Street, it is also possible to enter from the passage located on the route of the “City. Technosensitivity” permanent exhibition. Entrance to the building is only possible in the presence of people responsible for conducting educational activities.
Building B – administration building
The entrance to the building is from building J (porter’s lodge). The building has two storeys. If you need to take care of a matter in the office building, please report to the secretariat (office), which is located on the ground floor. The building does not have a lift. Accessibility of corridors, stairs and lifts
The buildings available to visitors are diverse and have different levels: from one (in building F) to three levels (in the entrance/exit space in building D). The passageways in the exhibition spaces are narrow. In building D there is a passenger lift for visitors, while in buildings H and E there are platforms for people with disabilities.
Accessibility of the toilet
A toilet for people with disabilities is available in building D in the entrance/exit zone on level 0 and on level D-1 (directly in front of the entrance to the permanent exhibition). During the tour, it is possible to return to the toilet after informing the Exhibition Staff. The toilets in building D (on both levels) for people with disabilities are equipped with emergency alarms.
Information on the right to enter with an assistance dog and any justified restrictions
A disabled person with an assistance dog has the right to enter the Museum buildings.
Price list
People with disabilities and one companion are entitled to purchase a reduced-price ticket to the Museum.
When purchasing a standard ticket, holders of the Krakow Card with N are given a 50% discount.
Educational offer
1. Guided tours for people with visual impairments
A specially prepared tour program allows visitors to learn not only about the history of the city’s formation, but also about selected exhibits related to the topic of transport.
- In the Entrance Zone (on level 0 and level -1) there are typhlographic plans that allow visually impaired and blind people to get to know our spaces.
- At the ticket office, you can borrow a magnifying sheet to enlarge the descriptions.
- In building F, which houses a collection of historical tram cars, there is a 3D model of the Depot.
- In each exhibition space, there are maps with typhlographic plans of the exhibition space.
- It is possible to rent an audio guide.
- People with visual impairments can move around all buildings in the presence of an assistance dog.
2. Guided tours for people with hearing disabilities
A specially prepared program allows visitors to learn not only about the history of the city’s creation, but also about selected exhibits related to the topic of transport.
- There is an induction loop system at the ticket office in the Entrance Zone.
- There are 10 films with audio descriptions on the Museum’s YouTube channel, which are an integral part of the exhibition and the tour route – Link.
- Another 10 objects placed in the exhibition have audio descriptions, which are also placed on the website –Link.
- The Museum has 30 sets of headphones, which allow guests to visit the exhibition with an audio guide.
- It is possible to arrange a group guided tour translated into Polish Sign Language. Please contact us two weeks in advance.
3. Guided tours for people with mobility disabilities
Educational classes and guided tours allow visitors to learn not only about the history of the city’s creation, but also about selected exhibits related to the topic of transport.
- The tour takes place on two levels, which is why we use the lift and platforms.
- The corridors are wide and allow free passage.
- The exhibition structure is low, with pull-out drawers containing additional content.
- People with mobility problems can borrow a wheelchair or a walking cane seat free of charge. This intention should be reported at the Ticket Office or to the Exhibition Staff.
4. Guided tours for people with intellectual disabilities
Participants in classes or guided tours will learn about the exhibition from the perspective of Communication.
- The tour scenario enables the use of simple language.
- During the tour, the guide draws attention to objects that may attract the attention of visitors.
- Stops and breaks are planned during the tour.
5. Guided tours for people with hypersensitivity
Participants in classes or guided tours will learn about the exhibition from the perspective of Communication.
- The tour scenario enables the use of simple language.
- The tour takes place on two levels.
- There are many monitors at the exhibition. Additionally, some of them have speakers.
- In the Lab Zone, there are stations that move, change their position, or the light intensity.
- At the ticket office, there are 3 types of noise-cancelling headphones at your disposal.
- Part of the exhibition on level -1 is darkened and sometimes narrow.

Difficulties
The Depot is located in a historic area. There are cobblestones and tracks on the road leading to the entrance and in the courtyard, which may cause problems for people using wheelchairs, walking sticks, and walking frames to move around the area.
Information on the possibility of using a sign language interpreter on site or online
The Museum does not have a sign language interpreter. It is possible to arrange a group guided tour translated into Polish Sign Language. In such a case, please contact us two weeks in advance.
2. Branch I – Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiments in Krakow
The first branch of the Museum – Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiments is located at Aleja Pokoju 68 in Krakow (31-580).
The basis of a visit to the Garden of Experiments is a tour based on sensory experiences – visitors independently perform experiments using interactive installations presenting various physical and natural phenomena.
The specificity of the Garden of Experiments is the location of the educational exhibition outdoors in a park. We kindly ask you to take into account the weather conditions on the day of your visit and adapt your clothing to them (protection from the sun, rain, cold, etc.)
There are 105 experimental stations in the Garden, which are divided into different sections. A detailed plan of the Garden can be found on the website: LINK
Some of the devices can make sounds, change colour, or rotate around their own axis. Some of the devices are staffed by employees who will help you perform the experiment. In the Scented Zone, people who are allergic to pollen should be especially careful.
The Planetarium is separately payable and is a place where films are also shown in 3D technology. It is a darkened place and glasses should be worn. There are 30 seats. The films shown last from 15 to 38 minutes.
Exhibition tour time
The recommended time to walk around and use the attractions of the Garden is about 1 hour 30 minutes. The tour time always depends on individual needs.
Getting there
By tram
When travelling by tram lines no. 1, 14, and 22, get off at the “Ogród Doświadczeń” stop, then cross the street towards Park Lotników and turn right after about 30 m.
By car
You can reach the Garden by car. We suggest parking in the M1 Shopping Center car park and crossing the street. You can leave your car in the Tauron Arena car park. This is a paid car park.
Parking availability
It is not possible to park directly in front of the Garden. Parking for visitors to the Garden of Experiences is located in the car park of the M1 Shopping Center, with which the Museum has a signed agreement to provide parking. On non-trading Sundays, the car park is available from 9:30 am.
Entrance availability
There is one entrance to the Garden of Experiences located at Aleja Pokoju 68. The entrance is publicly available during the opening hours of the Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiences in Krakow.
Description of the accessibility of corridors, stairs and lifts
The educational exhibition of the Garden of Experiences is located in the park area. All devices are located outdoors.
Toilet availability
The toilet for visitors is located approx. 12 metres from the Experimental Garden ticket office. The toilet is adapted for people with special needs. There is also a changing table in the toilet.
Information on the right to enter with an assistance dog and any justified restrictions
A disabled person with an assistance dog has the right to enter the Experimental Garden.
Price list
Disabled people with a companion are entitled to purchase a reduced-price ticket to the Garden.

- In the summer, in the morning hours, there is a large number of groups, so the comfort of the tour may be lower.
